Zenith Chronomaster Open
I've been struggling to write this review because I've been trying to find flaws with the Zenith Chronomaster Open. That’s not to say there isn’t criticism, or that a review can’t be a comprehensive review. I'm used to watches of all price points and types having some drawbacks, and while the Chronomaster Open may not be for everyone, in my opinion it seems to do everything it does well. There is one very minor issue that I will point out later, but overall, I am impressed every time I put this watch on. While I never had the pleasure of experiencing the previous iteration of the Chronomaster Open, it seems to me that Zenith has gone ahead and knocks it out of the park with this updated version, smaller case, and new movement beat.
The original Chronomaster Open men replica watches was released in 2003 and has been in continuous production ever since, with many variants and special editions (such as the Rolling Stones edition). While the previous iteration wasn't without fans (it won a GPHG award in 2004), after 20 years (its longevity itself is a testament to its popularity - at least not in financial trouble for the company), the The model range needs a meaningful update. The result of the Zenith redesign, though, was not a complete makeover, but instead resulted in an unrecognizable watch that just carried the name of its predecessor. These are subtle but meaningful changes: a more refined dial aperture, the latest El Primero movement, and a case that reflects modern size preferences.
The new Zenith Chronomaster Open case has been reduced to a more manageable 39.5mm, and at 13.1mm thick, it’s pretty decent for an automatic chronograph and thinner than its TAG and Omega counterparts. The case design is similar to other modern Chronomaster watches, with soft contours, polished sides and brushed top. The chamfer between the two has also been polished and wider than the previous generation. The entire bezel is also polished. Frankly, for a sports watch - and maybe not all chronographs are sports watches, but the Chronomaster line is - this watch is a bit heavy on the gloss and always gives me hesitation when it comes to wearing it on my wrist Decide. Heck, even the buttons and branded crown are polished! Regardless, the experience on the wrist is what I really enjoy. The proportions, including the 45.2mm lug-to-lug, are just perfect (fits my 7-inch wrist), and the curvature of the lugs and form-fitting bracelet make for a seamless transition between my wrists. I also like the angled ends of the lugs, which slope away from the case. replica luxury Watches
Some other notes on the case. Zenith's use of box-shaped sapphires means it has a slightly vintage feel, although the rest of the design is decidedly modern; it also means that if they had used flat sapphires, the watch would probably be less than 13mm thick. Not complaining, just observing. The bracelet adopts the dual surface treatment of the case, but is more balanced with brushed outer links and polished center links; the edges of the analogue are also polished. Unfortunately, the clasp does not have a built-in fine-adjustment mechanism, which is disappointing these days, as TAG, Rolex and Omega all offer this technology. That said, once adjusted, the bracelet and its flip-lock closure are very comfortable.
The dial is really where the magic happens, though. You've got these lovely polished applied hour markers (in fact, all the metal on the dial is polished). This one has a subtle glossy white dial. Of course, there are also tri-color sky blue (i.e. radial groove) subdials, a nod to the original A386 El Primero. But wait – that’s not what they usually look like! Yes, here we meet the "Open" of the Chronomaster Open. The second chronograph seconds hand at 9 o'clock has been replaced by a transparent Hesalite disc, from which two other circles (overlapping like the chronograph seconds hands) emerge to reveal the silicon escape wheel and balance Swinging at a dizzying speed of 10 times per second. It's a serious aesthetic upgrade over past iterations, with a polished frame held in place by blue screws on the dial side, the inner workings look far less glamorous. Now, though, the seconds hand is working and you can see the colorful light show from the silicon escapement wheel and the mesmerizing oscillations of the balance wheel. Most importantly, Zenith chose to change the bridge finish to the same skylight as the subdials, creating greater cohesion within the dial. buy replica watches
Of course, equipping a watch with a 1/10th chronograph Caliber 3600 probably doesn't require changing the chronograph display, but Zenith would be foolish not to put it there. So instead of a traditional chronograph hand and tachymeter ring, what you see is a horological dervish whose hands circle the dial 10 times a second, with matching scales (when the 3600 was first introduced in the Chronomaster Original, the brand With a bold attempt to squeeze in both the tachymeter and the 1/10 second scale). The subdials have also been adjusted accordingly, from the original 3-hour and 12-hour counters to 60-second and 60-minute counters respectively. For my part, I welcome change. For those very rare times, when I'm actually using the chronograph (I've never "been to the track"), which is more exciting, I find a 1 hour register much more practical than a 12 hour register. Another detail I really like is the black padding on the rear end and the tips of the hands, which encases the luminous (also on the indexes, which is more than enough for a chronograph). I also like the offset markings necessary for the dial aperture. But perhaps most importantly, I'm glad I didn't have a date. You could argue that this isn't a true El Primero without the wide trapezoidal date window. you are right. But I think, despite its historicity, the 4:30 date window is almost always terrible, and the El Primero's date window has always struck me as particularly bad. high quality watches replica
Visible through the sapphire caseback is the latest version of the El Primero movement, the Caliber 3604, a timeless variant of the modern Caliber 3600. 3600 replaced the legendary Caliber 400 that dominated for decades, including the Rolex Daytona. The series brings a host of improvements to El Primero. By connecting the chronograph drive to the escape wheel itself (rather than to the fourth wheel like the Caliber 400), the 3600 is able to time to the nearest 1/10th of a second. While the end of the gear train is usually left with the least drive power for such tasks, Zenith uses a silicon star-spoke escapement wheel and a unique gear design to alleviate this problem and ensure that the chronograph and balance wheel still get enough power. Dynamic vitality. The 3600 series maintains El Primero's signature 5hz rate (36,000vph), but increases the power reserve from 50 to 60 hours. While it's not the prettiest movement, the chronograph's custom rotor and blue column wheel offer some treats, while the cutout baseplate that allows for the dial aperture means you could theoretically spy on someone through the case back.
The Zenith Chronomaster Open is a great example of how a brand should modify a watch: keeping the essence and overall design, but making meaningful improvements (not just changes) where possible and appropriate. Like I said, I'm hard-pressed to find anything I don't like about this watch. By removing the date, not only is it not bad, it solves a major problem I've been having with the El Primero. Best of all, you get a clean, beautifully executed dial aperture that doesn't sacrifice any functionality or legibility (ok, maybe the running seconds will suffer, but who cares?), and 1/10 to you friends showing fun seconds hand. And it's all in one more manageable package! Really, what's not to like here? replica Jacob & Co. ASTRONOMIA Watches
